Agh, my eyes are crossed. Added almost 5,000 words this weekend – adjusted the projected word count (don’t know how I feel about that) -and the end is in sight!

Interesting things that happened along the way:

-MC’s ~boyfriend did something I was really not expecting. Like so much, that we argued about it because it really changed the story. I kept saying like, “Are you really going to do that?” And he kept answering, “Just watch me.” And he did. And let me tell you, My MCs best friends are PISSED OFF.

-I had an epiphany about the epilogue – which is a huge relief because the original was tres cheesy. But now I have to figure  something out… If the whole novel is written in 3rd person close following my MC…can the epilogue be written 3rd person close – about someone else? (obviously a different important character, but it ties up a lot of backstory that’s important about her, and which drove the whole novel). I could write it from the same POV as the rest of the book, but I don’t think it would be as effective…
Anybody got some suggestions/advice??

  1. First of all – great progress! I’m thinking I might need to increase my own projected word count… but so far I’m resisting it. ;P

Re. the epilogue… I honestly don’t see why you can’t give it a try. Maybe you could write two versions of it – one in each POV – and see what works best.

    1. Thanks! Though I decreased the projected word count…perhaps I’m being more concise? :-P

And that’s good advise…the epilogue will not be very long either way. Just a short, but very poignant scene. I think I’ll try it both ways. :D

  2. Epilogue

Why not? I just finished Eclipse and the epilogue was from Jacob’s POV.

But Im sure you’ll figure out what works one you write it. Good luck!

  3. YAY PROGRESS! Rock on & congrats!

I love this–that’s one of the best and most frustrating things about writing, isn’t it?!

I hope you figure out the epilogue–you should go with your gut and at least try it. You’ll know whether or not it works once you see it all out on the page!

    1. Thanks Courts! (insert either Law&Order or Night Court music here). Although my brain fog returned tonight and I fell asleep on my keys while trying to figure out WTF these two really important chicks are supposed to be saying to each other…how come I never fall asleep like that while reading/responding to blogs?? Not Fair!
